AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS
Twelve agricultural districts compromise much of the farmland throughout the county. To be considered an
agricultural district, at least fifty-one percent of the land must be used for agricultural purposes. Changing conditions require
the districts to be reevaluated and amended every eight years. Based on the information collected, some parcels are removed from the districts,
some remain and others are added. The "amended" district is then mapped and its characteristics are tabulated according to various agricultural categories.
This information is gathered by the Planning Department staff, presented to the County Agriculture, Farmland Protection Board and then presented to the CPB for review.
Once approved the matter is referred to the Board of Supervisors (BOS) for final approval.
